Aspiring Software Developer · Application Development Student
I’m Alex Petrovici, an application development student focused on full-stack web development, thoughtful user experiences, and useful software products.
Currently working on
Small projects help me practise programming, databases, interfaces and the full process from an idea to a deployed result.
My path into development
Before starting my retraining, I spent more than five years working at Hannover Medical School. My work required accurate documentation, clear processes, reliability, and the ability to solve problems without losing sight of quality or safety.
In 2025, I decided to make a professional change and began an IHK retraining programme as a Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung. I currently focus mainly on Python, relational databases, and the foundations of web development.
I learn best by building. Alongside my coursework, I create small projects, document them on GitHub, and revisit them as my understanding improves.
I am especially interested in software that makes real processes clearer, simpler, or more reliable. My next goal is to gain practical experience in a development team and continue growing through real projects.
Skills & learning
I prefer to show technologies I have actually used rather than list everything I have briefly encountered. My current focus is Python, relational databases and the foundations of web development.
Selected projects
These are learning projects rather than finished commercial products. Each one gave me a concrete way to practise a specific part of software development and identify what I needed to learn next.
A country flag guessing game built with Python and Flet. It uses local JSON data, reveals progressive hints, normalises user input and stores high scores locally.
An academic team project built around two Raspberry Pis. I worked primarily on the Flask dashboard, live camera streaming, telemetry, SQLite logging, media handling and data management. The movement controls and wider embedded system were developed collaboratively by the team.
A command-line quiz application I built while practising Python fundamentals. Questions are loaded from JSON and can be filtered by category and difficulty. The app validates input, explains answers and shows statistics for the current session.
A small desktop tool that copies photos into folders by year and month. It uses EXIF capture dates when available, falls back to file metadata and avoids overwriting existing files.
An early API project that retrieves current weather information for a city selected by the user. I use it to practise HTTP requests, JSON processing, functions, validation and error handling.
